Please define "troll" and "nucklehead".  I have been stressing one point regarding the monthly membership which no one has challenged nor answered.  As this point goes ignored, so does what feels like my own presence on this forum.  Thus the request.

What is your particular concern?

I'm thinking maybe this...

but I'm not really following the reasoning based on the context because in that thread I pretty much described the best way for a skeptic to "protect" themselves. The month to month thing just is what it is and that's what it is... (an extra option). I don't see how it potentially "screws" anyone more than the old model.

I mean I'm probably overlooking something because I'm trying to get back to work today now that things have calmed a bit but I'm not seeing how that scenario makes anything WORSE than we had before. I honestly think a user would have to go out of their way or completely neglect to get all the facts to be screwed over by the new system.

Meh... what do I know. I'm just a Beep.

This is the only place on the net I visit everyday. I love the family atmosphere and enjoy reading what everyone has to say. I also appreciate cakes patient willingness to allow people to express their opinion without policing or politics getting in the way. Sure, sometimes that mark is overstepped, sometimes way too much and that's life I guess and as such it's seen for what it is, sometimes innocent, sometimes vindictive but regardless, it remains a pleasure to be a 'cakey'. It's not just the DAW that makes it so great.

If some of these people would just calm down for a second and take a deep breath, they'd realized that the same upgrade choice (as it's always been) is still available.  The only difference now is that a new option has been added. And that is to pay as you go on a monthly basis.  Great for those who don't have the cash on hand.

People are confusing this new option with the Adobe leasing option.  And in the case of one of the members (who has already graciously admitted he was wrong), thought that he would be paying for new features that don't exist yet.
When in reality the upgrade price includes a ton of new features.  Any additional features after that should be considered freebies, since we've already paid for the listed new features included in the upgrade.

And as for paying for 11 months, and then stopping, only to lose the latest version.  Why would anyone do that to begin with?  For just a few more dollars (one more month's payment) the program would be yours to keep no matter what. You wouldn't lose the license after 12 months (like you would with the Adobe leasing plan).

But I guess I'm mostly preaching to the choir here.  It's just (as others have already said) extremely frustrating to have these people freaking out over nothing, and refusing to stop and listen to a very simple explanation.
And then the trolls...they are a whole different story....they are not even worth responding to.

My answer to that question is that we are committed to this new model and we will be delivering updates monthly. It's really a hard thing to prove without getting into a time machine. We are working on new features and enhancements, plan on rolling updates monthly, and are offering some visibility on the road map. It's in our best interest to offer value every month and we know this. I think in some ways it's a two way street - we offer basically two versions upfront right now, what would have been X4 and then X5 over the next year. And our hope is that, after a year, customers will be happy and renew. We have a year to prove that and show that this model really is as customer friendly as we say it is.

Hello,
I would make this a quote but it would be too long.

After about a week coming here, having never spending more then the time it takes to post an issues.
And now seeing this whole deal... I think it would be better described as partnership between the CW folks and the customers then as a membership...

Sure at the end of the day we could loss a few bucks if this model fails to deliver but now, the CW people have their reputations on the line to pull this off and ANY company that can step up and do that.. I will absolutely support!

Peace!

Well, the repost of your concern didn't contain an actual question, and in this quote above you also fail to reiterate it. So, I suggest you remember the importance of staying on point and providing all the information needed to avoid the knuckling of you head, so to speak. (actually that's a reminder to look up the etymology of the word "knucklehead" for myself)

The rest of it...well the Bakers should be commended for handling this particular uproar. They all carried themselves with great decorum and tons of info. Though I have to admit I wish I was a fly on the wall at Cake HQ sometimes. :-)

Lee, I don't believe you are just preaching ti the choir, but even if you are I believe people of reason should stay engaged and repeat their beliefs. The trolls and "ax grinders", the ignorant and the bitter keep hamerin' away. We will make few converts out of the nasty faction but a continued presence is important for people who really want to find out about this. There are a lot of decent people around here. The decent people may even have a resposibility to speak up so the haters aren't the only voice the new arrivals hear. The last week has brought a lot of new people, some returning friends and some familiar, toxic, folk. The good guys need to stay engaged.

It still doesn't really make sense in the context of the thread because it basically outlined exactly how one could completely avoid getting "burned" if they choose not to. It's kind of like a "but you neglected THIS aspect" even though I detailed pretty much how to avoid that scenario (I think).

On second look I'm guessing his concern would fall under the category of some catastrophic new bug showing up at the end of their 12 month script. In which case there is the option of reverting back BUT I have also seen you guys mention that in that type of scenario where it's a matter of bad timing and ther IS an actual problem they could contact Cake and something could be worked out. Like a patch for that specific issue or something I guess or a free update after the problem is resolved.

Dunno... just a bit of a weird post.

That's not to say LRR is a knucklehead or full of hateraid. He's alright and I see him make quality contributions (and IIRC has helped me out personally in the past). Just not totally sure whether he maybe missed something or has a case of the 'noids (as in paranoids).

Meh. I'm just waiting for an answer about a dumb procedural question so I'm basically just killing time writing this.
