I'm liking the quick easy feature of this, but finding that maybe different algorhythms may be needed, if venturing away from using it on stuff other than vocals??  Yeah..I know it's "VocalSync"...but you gotta abuse the tools sometimes...right?
 
I tried it with acoustic guitar, and it was wimpering pretty bad.

Anybody messing around with this new feature and using it for other purposes?  I'm finding (I think Craig mentioned it before the official release), that it could be *abused* to create a doubling effect.  I'm finding the source track HAS to be different from the Region FX track, to implement this. IOW, if two different tracks are used and are VERY tight, you could potentially loosen them up...but you definitely need two different tracks. I'm not sure I'd ever want to "loosen" up tracks, but you never know...
 Cut and paste using only ONE track (to create a 2nd track), doesn't work.  But experimenting outside of just using vocals, I'm not having much luck getting quality results, audio wise.  Lots of time stretching artifacts.

I assume you are rendering, right? The audio will sound pretty bad unless you do.
 
I have not had as much time as I would have like to research weirdo applications, NAMM got in the way. But yes, it's designed for vocals...on the other Melodyne works great with bass, so you can't always believe the inventors know everything about their programs 
 
I think it's also worth mentioning, as Cakewalk hasn't really pushed this, is that VocalSync is a technology and not just an effect. So it's likely to change over time, both in terms of accuracy and potential applications.

yeah..I rendered.  Works great on vocals.  Just trying to step outside the box.  It's a great addition never the less.

You may need to mess with the offline render mode too. Currently the tool does not make it very easy but it can be done. See here http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3152249

I can see since this is a Cake product (unlike VVocal, etc.), that in the drop down menus, they may provide separate choices for rendering as well, in the future.  That would totally make playing your instrument at a quality level, a total waste of time !!  :-D

thx Scook...you know I read and even posted in that thread.  I guess the memory cells didn't retain.  Noel offered some postives, in saying that different rendering modes may be offered in the user interface, down the line.  I guess depending on how popular this feature is.  Again...it's great for vocals.
