As near as we can tell, CJ, pete is still working on that troublesome F chord.

Thanx Rob. I'm not much of a fan of Simon Cowell either.

What!?!?

You mean there's an 'F' now?

Well I was suprised to find out that my idea worked with no real problems. You can simply route the singal to an alternate out on your computer or interface, run the signal through whatever outborad gear you like, including a guitar or bass amp, and re-record to an empty track. Worked like a champ after I got all the levels right. My Presounus will let me patch out of any of the line outs and back in to any input without fuss and I imagine that you could figure out something on the TonePort if they have multiple outs on them. If you happen to have a good digital delay or something you can just patch it in and save some CPU headroom. Just remember that for mix down you have the second effected track to work with instead of an aux mix. I kind of like the ability to do this because I have that H&K box I mentioned before and the delay on it is great.

Hi there CJ.

I've just tried out your idea using my POD2 as the external unit and it works perfectly - and sorry Pete, no inherent latency, you must be disappointed.

First I imported a clean guitar loop into GT3.

I ran a lead from the headphone out on My TonePort to the input on the POD; I then connected the POD's output to the input on the TonePort.

I armed another track and started GT recording - this allowed me to use the POD to process the clean signal in real time while the processed signal was recorded back into GT. I fiddled around with a few different amps and effects with the POD just to emphasize the differences between the two signals.

HERE'S THE RESULT - the left channel is the original clean loop and the right channel is the processed signal.

CJ - this is a really great idea you had - I must experiment some more!

Hey CJ,

I think you got the old bean occupied for at least the next week or so!

I try

Actually, this whole thing has made me start looking at getting a nice outboard verb or multieffects. My wife is already avioding me because I've been nagging her to let me spend more money. Some day I'm gonna grow up and be responsible but why start now.

Steve, I forgot to say thanks for that little demo you put together. Doc said that you'll be occupied with this but I'm sure that it will keep me pretty busy as well. Even if it is only looking for deals on TC Electronics or Lexicon boxes. Maybe if I can find a Eventide Eclipse for under $100 in the scratch and dent pile!!

CJ,

I found a fix for the very problem you mentioned. I tell her every reasonable chance I get that I want this really expensive tool, or amp, or something I know sounds like something I'd use in the studio. I do this for a week or two and then at the end of the week or two I tell her:

"You know honey. I'll shut up about that other thing that I wanted if I can get this thing. And it's this much less, to boot". It works every time, but you got to be sure the really expensive thing that you were mentioning was something you would never in your right mind (or wrong mind for that matter) put in your studio.

I'm just glad that she doesn't know this forum exists or I'm in really big trouble!

She found me out on that one a long time ago. I used to beg for custom shop Gibsons and then switch to used stuff at the local store. I got a great Tele that way. But she caught on and now when I metion gear at all I get a shoulder cold enough to chill nitrogen. BTW I think I mentioned my new/old guitar amp from Clark. I got the head but the cab is still in the post somewhere. I'll get soem picts up for you when I get the whole thing in.
