  • Is more color flexibility in the works - question for great Cakewalk people

I just want to know if over the next year there is any effort being made to provide more color options.  For instance to lock in colors, foreground and background for a whole track - so that when I record a new clip on it I do not have to keep on changing the colors.

If this is not a high priority I understand.  You have a lot on your plate (a whole cake :)

Seriously, I just want to know.  I don't expect that your staff can work on everything at once.  If this is a low priority, please just say so.  It is a high one for me, but I will stick around anyway because I do like the product and I really respect the Cakewalk people, and that is important when I decide where my money goes.

I think this is high on the list for a lot of us. I know I put that on the survey a while back.

All good.   And I will definitely look out for Duckbar 2015. I would like to hear from the Cakewalk people.  Whatever there answer is, I believe we are dealing with good people.  It is just nice to know what to expect.  If there are serious problems accomplishing this - i.e. it will affect stability of other issues, or other issues are more important, please just say so.

I would dearly like to be able to set the clip background color on the track level. I simply cannot be bothered to color clips individually and I can't imagine that many people would even have a need for multiple clip colors within a single track. It seems like the kind of thing which would be (on the surface) quite straightforward to implement, so I'm wondering if there's some kind of weird behind-the-scenes technical reason why it's not an option.

Yeah, that's pretty annoying to me too, but not as much as the way the clip changes colour after rendering any melodyne edits. If it was x colour before, then I want it to be the same colour afterwards.

Oh, and can black be black again please. (instead of slightly darker grey)

I agree with what has been said so far and would like to echo that I would like to be able to use deep, rich colours, not just on the side edge (in Track View) or bottom edge (in Console View). I'm not a pastel or greyish grey fan. Sorry to nag, but I wish for this every time I open Sonar.

After all, people vary. Some likely prefer a quiet, non-intrusive (engineer-serious-business-this-is-not-a-toy) atmosphere so that they are not distracted visually and can concentrate on the task at hand.

Others long for the freedom and tools to make their visual environment as creative and inspiring as possible, even if others find their taste in colour combinations questionable. :)

The great news is: Giving the second group what they want won't deprive the first group of a single thing. Everyone can work in the environment that satisfies him or her.

Thanks for listening.

And the response from the good (I mean that sincerely) people at Cakewalk is:  __________
