Loving Platinum. Have Question. In preferences in the audio driver bit depth tab it is set at 24 bits and it's greyed out. I can't find any place or way to change it. I have an octa capture. Is it just locked in at that rate?
Another question. How do I see what bit rate an imported .wav file is in Sonar?

You need to go to Preferences>File>Audio Data to change it - Record Bit-Depth.

Sir Les
if you right click the wav file, select preferences before importing you should get the info of the wav file presented to you?...at least outside of Sonar...it does.

Thanks for the replies. Bob, yes I've seen that you can change the import and export bit rates in audio data. But in the driver settings it still remains at 24 greyed out. I'm farming out a project that will be worked on in "logic" which will then be imported back into sonar and I don't want to have any problems. I'm pretty sure that things will be alright but I'm just checking.

can you open your audio mixer app in Sonar prefs, and try changing things in that, apply and see what happens to the greyed out window?..ASIO button I believe in the sonar pref audio driver sections,,not sure which page,,,must be on the one you are seeing the bit rate on though...sorry not at my studio desk.

Thanks Sir Les. I've looked at my octacapture ASIO settings and there's nothing in there that I can find that allows me to change anything. Oh well. No problem though. Everything works great. Just curious I guess.

I have an octa capture and it works with 24-Bit.
But I have set the driver mode to WDM/KS and Dithering to Triangular.
Preferences ->File -> Audio Data:
record bit deth:  24
render bit depth: 32
Import:  Original

Try a test with WDM/KS
If this works with 24-Bit, then turn back to ASIO.

Driver bit depth is greyed out because it is fixed at 24. Many drivers only work at one bit depth.

That answers that then. Good to know.

Try changing Windows settings:  Goto your Sound options in the Windows Control Panel.  Under the Playback tab right click onr your sound cards Speakers and chose Properties (or click on Speakers and click on the Properties button in the lower right section).  Now go to the Advanced tab.  In the Default Format section, click on the drop down list to select the desired sample rate and bit depth combination.  Do the same under the Recording Tab at the Sound window options.  See if this helps.

Kind regards,
