Every time I use VVocal it crashes Platinum. I don't use it a lot but it is a nice tool for certain things. Is there a way to re-install it? maybe I should just remove the dll, scan and the place it back again to see if Platinum will re-scan it. Any other suggestions?

For me, VVocal had been uninstalled because of uninstalling 8.3 and X1. This happened even though I still had X2 and X3 on my system. I needed to reinstall X2 (or X1 or 8 etc) to get VVocal back in the system. Until then, Platinum would crash whenever opening a project with VVocal or attempting to make a VVocal RFX.

I tried just moving the VVocal dll, rescanning and then adding it back in and scanning again. This is what got Melodyne to work in Platinum for me. However, this did not work for VVocal. I actually could not find a Dll that was called VVocal.dll but found a Dll named something different in a folder call VVocal so maybe I didn't get the "real" Dll. I still need to try to see if I can re-install it from one of the previous versions of X?

VVocal is a DX plugin and can't just be moved about like VST plugins. DX plugins need to be registered in the registry by a particular windows process using the command regsrv32.

Also it is an integral part of the Sonar program which also needs to be installed. Only way to get VVocal back is to reinstall a version of Sonar that includes it.

It's possible to install VVocal without installing Sonar, provided you have a Sonar version with VVocal installed on a different Computer. I did this when I installed Sonar X3 on a new computer.

1. Copy the complete VVocal folder from "...\Shared Components\Shared DXi" wherever it is on each computer.
2. Export the following registry entries from where VVocal is installed into a reg file, say VVocal.reg:
      HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{0E7C41F0-68A2-45F5-B9C2-CC37BA99810D}
      HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{3CB6453B-E79A-4A8C-AD02-943F87C2EAC6}
      HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Filter\{3CB6453B-E79A-4A8C-AD02-943F87C2EAC6}
      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ActiveMovie\devenum 64-bit\{083863F1-70DE-11D0-BD40-00A0C911CE86}\{3CB6453B-E79A-4A8C-AD02-943F87C2EAC6}
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDLLs
3. Adjust all folder paths in VVocal.reg if necessary (use \\ instead of \ as path separator).
4. Double click VVocal.reg on the computer where you want to install VVocal to update the registry.
