 For a moment I thought it was the subscription model but they are asking only for 12 months.  So far the pay as you go that means you have to be connected to the net. I'm curious to see which version the user base prefers.

Basically, what would have been X4 and after 12 months, for which you will not have paid anything extra, you'll have the equivalent of what would have been X5.

That's the way I saw it.  It's like getting two upgrades for $149.  What I see is that there will be no more "end of the year" big releases - just incremental.  Which is a good thing - for stability, features, less hassle (upgrades are optional so can be 'put off till proven' etc)  So we'll be getting what wold have been X5 released thru next year.

But after year one then you are always in the same loop. There is no longer a X4+++++++++ it's just what it is when any new member (or returning member) drops in.
 
Obviously the best price is stay current, just like the old upgrade model.
 
I.E. Buy X4 now (day 1 year 1). Don't renew on day 1 year 2. Renew in year 3+ the cost to re-enter may be higher (just like the old upgrade model).
 
It's still all about the user's choice. 

So if you're in for all 12 months, you save a little $ by buying the upfront version and you get the membership.
 
I didn't see anything touch related in what I read. Any touch enhancements to look forward to?
