I would say do whatever is best for Sonar and whatever make your life shepherding this product back to health easier.   As users, we will adapt as long as its not a step backwards!   Thanks for rescuing the best DAW SW out there!

Top right click on User Control Panel then click on Avatar / Profile Photo. :)

It would be wonderful, if possible, to be able to upload screenshots, photos, directly to the forum instead of having to use image hosting sites.  Not a biggie though.  Whatever you decide I will work with that.

I'm glad the intention is to stick with the Forum/Thread model for the community. It's definitely a better fit than the reddit-style "drive-by" posting. A desktop application is a bigger commitment and needs a tighter community.

If users don't like it, they will post about it, so it can then be 'adjusted.'  I think you will find there will be MANY ideas and opinions from this Sonar group about likes, dislikes and requests...

To step in here...  this was discussed at length between the Bakers and the new Hosts when Hosts were first introduced and the old forum/back end was updated to what we have now.  
 
The argument "for" was convenience.
 
The argument "against" was...
We are not a hosting company.
We don't want to be responsible for users files.
Server space costs money.
Server space requires maintenance.
Legal ramifications of hosting users data.
Legal ramifications of hosting users data that may infringe a 3rd party copyright or other laws, etc.
There are plenty of easy to use hosting sites already.
and a few others along similar lines.
 
This also applied to the possibility of hosting audio files for the Songs Forum as well as general purpose file hosting for forum posts.
 
BandLab may take a different view,  they are already a hosting company after all...

Personally, I would appreciate easier, richer ways of sharing various types of media, but it's not something I'm interested in lobbying for. I'm sure BandLab has bigger fish to fry.
