Well Andrew, IMHO as a former X3 Producer owner, I'm not sure getting the Platinum membership has any greater value than getting the Professional membership.  I know it's still early in the membership cycle but to be asked to buy something so soon doesn't leave a good taste in my mouth.  To me, Pro Channel has evolved into a means for Cakewalk to generate more income for plug ins that I have covered already.  Again, my opinion and hopefully you'll prove me wrong

Cheers,

We want to bring more 3rd party plugins over to ProChannel. This will be something we'll work on so the ProChannel get even better. You do realize the way to NOT do it is to ask the developers to sell pennies on the dollar or give it away? You do realize that making software costs money right? And that when you pay for something, you get something in return. In this case it would be a really nice emulation of a famous hardware compressor/expander that costs about $2,000.

Cakewalk is completed committed to making SONAR even better for customers but I hate to break it to you, we will also develop other products outside of SONAR - and we'll sell them. Just like almost every other business out there.

And that's entirely understandable, i have no problem with that whatsoever. From where i'm standing Sonar Platinum is 'excellent' value for money.

Quite frankly, Steinberg takes this strategy to quite an unreasonable level. As if their DAW wasn't already overpriced, they only include the SE aka LE version of their products even in the top-tier version of their DAW, expecting the users to pay even more for the full version, which IMO most definitely should be standard inclusion. Steinberg only provide the SE version of Groove Agent 4 and Halion Sonic, so if the user wants the benefit of the full versions, cough-up dude!

While i'm here, i hope Cakewalk might approach Slate Digital for him to code his plugins to fit the prochannel.

Just a quick note, ProChannel versions of Slates VMR (which I own) would be fantastic. Cake should definitely hit him/them up.

If people spent $3500 on the new version of CW...I could possibly see someone expecting to get everything CW offers for free.  But to spend $150 for an upgrade, and expect to get a $100 plugin thrown in for free just leaves me scratching my head in amazement.  Especially after getting AD2 and/or the AdPaks etc. for free.  There is quite a lot of stuff offered for free in the Sonar upgrades, even when we upgraded to X3 in 3013.

For the price paid...people should be thankful for what they got...not disappointed in what they didn't get.  JMO

Agree....   And to add, this isn't a CW plugin, it's a 3rd party vendor that will be offering a Pro Channel UI mode.  Most of their work went into the algorithms and controls, the PC interface is a convenience factor being offered to SONAR users.    I am curious about it though...

Since the Pro channel is on my music computer I can make simple choices between processors without any worry if the newest version off this third party VST is going to work this time. With Pro Channel you will know it will not only work. It will work with all those goodies available in Sonar...

It means when someone sits in.... I won't be embarrassed and I have complete controll. I just loooooove the Pro Channel. Cause it's what sets each analog console apart. And now I have many consoles in one software package wich.... works......

Personally, I think it's a wonderful thing to see Cakewalk adding Pro channel versions of some great 3rd party companies. It's something I've asked for repeatedly. I'm more than willing to pay a reasonable price for this!!
I'd love to see them partner up with Waves, Slate, Fab Filter, Sonnox, Drumagog, Sound Toys, etc. Bring it on!!! Take my $$$!!!
