So Im in the track view , I have about 8 tracks looping for 8 bars , I notice if I take my curser over the clip It becomes an " I " with either a zero with a back slash or a tiny square box, Well that quickly mutes and un mutes the clip , I don't know if that was there before in X3 or before that, But I just found that and I love it... Thought I'ed share.

That is not dumb ass.  It doesn't matter if its been there for 20 years or not which it hasn't. What matters is that you found something to you that is new and useful.  That is a good thing!

Switch the Erase Tool to the Mute Tool in the Control Bar. Now, when you hold F10 it will temporarily turn the Smart Tool into the Mute Tool until you release the key.

Yes. But once changed it should stick globally until it's manually switched back.

I guess I'm so used to hitting K to mute clips that I forgot there was a mute tool!
