All of you that keep saying there is a subscription when you buy the new Sonar are wrong! What CW is offering you is the choice to pay as you have always done the full amount for the upgrade or you may decide to pay a small monthly payment until it is paid off. This is no different from buying on credit for anything, your car your house or smaller purchasers that you wish to pay for over time. What CW is doing for the monthly payment model is extending you credit. What is so hard to understand about that?

In either case you will own the license and be able to use the software for as long as you wish.

This is a great idea and I support it completely.  The fact one will be getting fixes and patches with new features for a year is much the same as it has always been. The angst being posted about this is unreasonable and ridiculous.

+1 I resemble that remark/post and the emotion behind it - Rocket science never seemed so easy!

Actually it is a subscription for the first 11 months for those you do not buy up front.

And nothing wrong with that.

Of course, if you go 11 months, you'd have to be a bit crazy not to pay the 12th month as well, seeing that at that point you get to keep the product.

Unless you stop paying at month 11 and you revert to demo mode and you keep NOTHING. Why anyone would do that is beyond me but the fact is that is what would happen.

In that case you "rented" it for 11 months and it was repossessed.

That would be true of all products one buys on credit. Don't pay the last car note and see what happens.
With a subscription you really never own anything. You pay for it as long as you wish to use the product. Its like a rental. Stop paying and it will no long work. Here after the 12 months you have an unlocked and forever useful program.

Also, as I understand it, the individual fixes and patches will be coming sooner using C3.

Now John don't go spreading facts. The conspirators will have nothing to pick on.

I applaud your efforts John. I don't understand what is so hard to "get" here. Just for the record, the earth is round and orbits the sun. You may have to work hard to explain this as well.

I once got behind on payments to my excorcist. Yep, I got repossessed!
