A funny thing happened on the way to the forum....like they say.
Like many people I installed the Cakewalk by BandLab yesterday.
I loaded my project and inserted an Aria track like the one I had in Sonar X3. 
I don't know why, but with the new Cakewalk, everything works fine. I shutdown the computer overnight and when 
I brought up the project this AM, everything was working like it should.
So thank you everyone for your input. But because I would like to keep both Sonar X3 and the new one, I will  try what you suggest Michael to see if it solves my X3 problem. I am more familiar with the X3...but willing to learn.

That is interesting Gerry. My guess is, it's the "zero controllers" thing in Preferences. I noticed it is not checked ny default in BL Cakewalk. Which is what you want. So I'd make sure that box is unchecked in Ye Olde Sonare.
