I respect your opinion on it. However I disagree. At first I thought the same thing. I found myself wanting to revert back to 8.5 because I knew the older versions very well. However the X Series grew on me, and I now believe my work flow has definitely improved as well mixing, although the mixing has alot to do with experience and what not, but I do love alot of the newer plugins/effects and tools available in the newer ones.

Like anything else in the computer side of things...it is a learning process...Your Brain is far advanced than any software or device made by man....No matter how complex, the more you play with it, the more at ease you become..and  comfortable to it's features when Stablized...So far X3e has been mostly stable...Not sure yet about platinum yet...I guess the tweaking process, is again in progress via the support groups S&DOFE..(seek and debug or find em group)...lol...and they have already...feeling as you...but hold on for the Bliss!

Just remember its a grand illusion...and crime of the century is playing in the back ground,,.

Not tried Platinum yet, but so glad to jump from 8.5 to X3, and Platinum seems to be X3+.

What exactly is less intuitive?

It's quite a bit the opposite of what the OP says in my experience. Everything keeps getting better, faster, more intuitive and well, amazing.

Enough said I guess on that.

Hi there Nino!  Could you be a bit more specific about how Sonar Platinum does the opposite of making your life easier?  Is it a workflow thing?  A bug thing? A missing features thing? You mentioned Sonar X1...are you saying that the same issues since then are still in Platinum?  Does that mean you expected Sonar Platinum to be radically different workflow/feature/content/stability-wise?  I haven't used Sonar in a long time (too long) and my Platinum is downloading as we speak.  I loved Sonar X1 - I thought the Skylight idea was terrifically efficient for my style of working and I hope that Platinum builds on that but doesn't reinvent the entire interface...Horses for Courses, I suppose!

ok I finished the download thingy...of all I did not already have..and got some packs for xln ad2 done...
All installs seemed to go without hitch or hiccup...here..and finished the updates Today, with never opening the products.
I have not been able to try out the new thingies...As my health went to hospital.
But today I am back at the control panel...And I see my old Icon for x3e, and the New one for Platinum...Is it updates I got, or a new install, leaving both separate for now?

Before I do any migrates to the new from the old...if needed?...should I try without migrating first?

In order to get your plugins, preferences etc. the way you are used to ,I would migrate. It shortens the stress.

My experience is exactly the opposite of yours Nino.  I tried to use Sonar many times going back to Sonar 4 and always found it too difficult to use - non-intuitive and complicated.  The only success I had was with the simpler Project5 product.

It was only when Sonar X1 came out that I finally found a version that I was able to learn and since then I haven't looked back.  It was straightforward, intuitive and there were great webinars that I watched over and over again - learning it was an absolute pleasure.  Cakewalk have done a fabulous job with the X-series and I'm thinking maybe you need to spend a bit more time learning it.  Check out CakeTV and Sonar University, there's also a wealth of useful stuff on YouTube.  I'm up to X3 now and I have to say that each version has got better and better.

Bonne chance

Simon
