I've been anticipating the release of Sonar Platinum and was so excited to finally get my install codes today.  Happy Happy, Joy Joy!
I get finished installing everything except for XLN AD2, which is on a separate installer.  I downloaded the files, got halfway through the installation and my computer crashes.  I reboot, start installing AD2 again, it crashes again with ominous error messages saying, "Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error" and "Critical_Process_Died".

Now I can't even boot my PC!!!  I doubt it was the software and pretty sure it was my hard drive going bad (even though the SSD is less than 2 years old).  So now instead of having a fun night of playing with and learning all the cool new features, I'll be spending the next XX? days trying to get my computer working again.   Perfect timing eh?

As I said, I doubt it was the software installer, but I figured I would just mention it here just in case anyone else has a similar experience.  I'd appreciate it if you let me know.  Thanks!
Okay, off to diagnostic hell.....

I hope you have backups of your drive(s). I have been there. Ouch.

If it makes you feel any better, I had an error message at the end of my installation process, which said to contact support if it continues...I tried installing after this but got 2 BSOD! So I'm currently downloading it again to see if the issue continues...Yes, 'why me?' flashed through my mind as well...at least my system is still functioning along with hopefully X3.

Conversely my XLN installation went without a hipcup. Maybe downloading both at the same time might have corrupted something.

I hope you get it up 'n running soon...I know only too well about buying something and feeling excited only to have it replaced by disappointment.

Good Luck!

Thing I am not liking with these auto installers...I find no way to direct the downloading of the exes...and this may fill up a small SSD?...and then while installing, it adds more data before uninstalling any exe content that was used to install....

May be something with that?...any hoot....Safe mode?...or some backup hopefully solves or restore point?

run cc cleaner and defrag your HD beforehand empty the recycle maintain your computer people. I know how difficult it can be if you treat them roughly.

Sir Les, apparently the downloads go to C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Command Center\Downloads
and you can move or delete them after install or update. I have the same thing, small SSD, want to keep as much space as possible. If you need to rollback, Command Center will re-download the previous version . . . as discussed in this thread:

Sir Les
Do not defrag SSDs...

Thanks, but I got a big SSD...wink...

The problem is that default for the download should be selectable...if auto run from another drive...then why not let us select the download drive to begin with?...or am I missing the hidden button somewhere with my blind eyes?

Oh I see now you are saying I can move the folder now to where ever I want?...is that correct?

Sir Les
Is there a process to move these files ( command Center's download folder) so that it continues to be used by command center in future for updates to be added into that file once moved to a new drive?...Drag and drop?..cut & paste?...send to?

If you use the Command Centre then you can choose where the files are downloaded to on your PC. They will remain there for future use if needed.

If you want to have complete control then go to your account and download the installers and serial number and do it all yourself. You get control over where you out things this way.

When I installed X3P on my laptop I lost an entire partition.  I'm sure it was the installation since the laptop was fine before and has been fine since.  I have no idea how this is possible, but it's what happened.

Luckily I was able to recuperate the partition with a recovery tool.
