Okay, the latest is that I found the thread which stated that "you can try to delete (better rename) the cakewalk.ini file", then restart SONAR

I have also read Noel's suggestion to NOT import previous settings, but if I did not this would cost me in the minimum a day's work (I have a very extensive system). Folder paths is not the issue; I have always had to correct these after a "new" installation anyway. I'm a long time SONAR user and have two previous versions installed X3e and X2a.
I have been looking to UNINSTALL Sonar Platinum in order to make a fresh installation, but cannot do it from the C3, only Windows. If I do uninstall using Windows I'm not sure it will be a CLEAN uninstall ...
Any help on this (uninstall) would be appreciated. Thx to all suggestions to date ...
