  • [SOLVED] PRV: Keep selected rows of notes isolated in Controller Pane for Vel editing?

Hi. So this is likely n00b hacko stuff but what I am trying to/want to do is select a row of notes (actually multiple rows of notes) so I can do some Velocity editing.

More specifically it is a drum track with multiple kit piece articulations used. Currently I want to work on the hi hat which has three articulations being used in the track.

I'm clicking on their respective rows using the PRV keyboard thing to select them (and using Ctrl click on the other articulations so they get selected as well) and this indeed isolates the controllers for all the hi hat notes in the controller pane.

The problem is as soon as I go to edit one of the controllers in the CP the selection is lost and ALL the controllers for the track reappear.

How can I just keep the controllers for the selected row(s) of notes in the Controller Pane while I edit them?

Thanks and sorry if that is dumb but it's holding me up at the moment.

Is this not possible? Does this require a drum map or something?

Bueller? Bueller?

Sorry... just would like to get on with my little experiment. Cheers.

Found it thanks a post by Mr. Garrigus....

Using the Smart tool...
- Select notes.
- Hold Alt
- Draw velocities in Controller pane.

Only selected note velocities will be affected.

Perhaps one of the other tools will circumvent the need to hold Alt but this will work for now.

Cheers.

Improved velocity editing)
You can directly edit velocities in the Controller pane. Simply drag the top of a velocity line up/down.

Thanks but I'm still on X3. Although that new feature does look handy I'm not sure how useful it would be for my current task. I essentially want to get rid of the controllers for all unselected notes so I can just focus on one sound/note at a time. Holding the Alt key using the Smart Tool after selecting works.

I'm gonna see if the other tools might do this without holding alt.

Cheers.

Okay... the Draw "Pencil" tool works for this without having to hold down Alt but it does some other weird stuff that will likely slow me down in the long run so I guess Alt with the Smart Tool it is then.

Peace.
