Not sure if this has been asked, but I have some very well tweaked kits and presets in AD that I would love to use in AD2.  Is there a way to access the preset kits I have from AD in AD2?

thanks.

Try this post from earlier this year.

Thanks Stickman, but I had read that post earlier, but unless I'm simply doing it wrong, that method does not work.  I dragged my AD preset (from User Folder for AD1) onto the AD2 icon, and it opened up AD2 well enough, but it was not with the preset.  It just opened up AD2 to its standard kit.  Preset was no where to be found.

Has anyone had luck with dragging AD1 presets onto the AD program to get them to load?

There are some posts here and I'd advise you google them, but from what I can discern/remember is that AD1 packs only work in AD2 if you contact XLN and I think there's money involved.

For me personally I think AD was the greatest bundle/add-on in CW history, but to understand the difference between owning AD2 and not just the "engine" is to go through XLN.

Honestly for me there are very only a couple of things about the Ad2 I prefer to AD1 (which you can still use) but if you want to stand on principle about it (I couldn't blame anyone who does) it does seem to me XLN managed to grab some money from some.

It comes down to how you like to "process" your drums, how and when (lot's of good fx in Sonar, and other stuff too), but the difference between AD1 & 2 is probably going to depend on how you work.

AD 1 packs work perfectly in AD2 without doing anything.  I'm just trying to get my preset, pretweaked drumsets from AD1 to open in AD2.  Each kit peice has EQ and a wealth of other options that I have tweaked to my liking.  I just want to be able to access them in AD2.  For now I will just open them both up side by side and copy, copy, copy.

If I'm not mistaken Sven, you can't open the AD1 presets in AD2 unless you've upgraded those AD1 kits to AD2. Meaning, if you only bought a few AD2 kits, only those kits will work in the AD2 engine. Any previous AD1 kits/presets will need to be upgraded to AD2. At least that's my understanding........maybe someone can confirm or correct this.

However, you can add midi packs into either one (or even add midi packs from other drum software (i.e. EZ Drummer)) and they will play in both AD1 and AD2. I've added some of my older midi packs from EZ drummer into AD2.....the only downside is that the individual groves aren't labled and you have to manually do this.

All of my kits from AD1 open fine in AD2 (Indie, Retro and the basic Sonor and Tama kits from AD1), but neither the original AD1 presets nor any of my own presets from AD1 will open in AD2.  All I did was upgrade from AD1 to AD2 (no extra kit purchases).  All my kits transferred.  Since Platinum I have of course added the three new kits we get with the upgrade.

In that case, yeah that is very odd. The presets should open up in AD2. Have contacted XLN support on this? I'm sure they'll sort it out fairly quickly as they're quite good with their customer service.
