Ahh, I see the problem,  the .img placeholder for the main page is scaling the avatar to a fixed width and allowing proportional scaling.  So your thin but tall avatar becomes normal width but very very tall...

The answer is to include plenty of white space either side in the .gif to give it reasonable proportions and re-save, re-upload it.

It seems the Avatar is scaled properly in the thread but on the thread list page I'm sure I'll get banned if I can't figure out how to reduce it - ugh!!!

Hahaha!  Love it!

Don,  you could scale the avatar yourself if it's showing wrong on the front page.

Welcome back btw.

K:
I have tried to scale it.  I see the issue.  The AV is the same as on the left of this post.  It is a 2k gif with very small dimensions.  The Forum is interpreting it two different ways.  I will post one more new post to see if I have corrected the issue - if it doesn't rescale I will create a new one.  However I am sure it is not my avatar but rather the way the forum interprets the gif since it is the same file as what you see in this post.

Can you estimate in pixels what 'plenty of white space either side' means?  Thanks

Don, that avatar on the forum page looks like something I would do.

Guys - it means a lot to hear your typing!  Hope all is well
What is up (literally with that AvHeight? in the list).  I just resubmitted my gif file -
Mike - RU doing the NAMM report this year again?

Much is going on in Sonar world here in WesternPA  -

Possibly a sysop can suggest a solution to my list avatar - I really don't want to post any more until that is figured out

Hi Don, It has been a long time since we corresponded. I think you have the NAMM reporting misplaced. My guess is that you are thinking of Bitflipper (a.k.a Dave Townsend). It's an honor to be confused for Dave. :-)

Re: the avatar thing... put your .gif on a white 150x150 pixele background. The main list display stretches the "width" to 150 pixels... that is why it seems so large. If you frame it with a white background that is 150x it will scale 1:1 on both sections of the forum.

All the best!
mike

Mike:
Thanks - working on it - I think you're right about my confusion - but you are still the MAN!

The issue appears to be a missing maximum height entry for the main page avatar.

Man that looks pretty damn kool!! On the front page! I remember that avatar. But I don't ever remembering it doing what it's doing now.

Some people may get an idea from this!!
