I guess really we gotta ask ourselves whether we want the Bakers spending their time building/coding a website or using this prepackaged software for the forum and dealing with its quirks. It seems to me the guys probably spent a good deal of time learning how to manipulate the software to make this update happen. It is probably in an effort to foil some of the spammers and sock puppets as well as add some extra functionality/integration for the legit users.

All purely speculation on my part though but I do appreciate their efforts. I am right in the middle of studying all this type of thing and good lord is it ever complex. lol

Hi Beep,

I should clear this up before we let the speculation go any further.  :)

The reason for this update has everything to do with offering better support for our customers. For example, tying together product ownership (which can come from a variety of places) has been a huge challenge for us in the past. This creates a huge demand on our Customer Service staff when ultimately it shouldn't be hard for people to obtain their products. It's frustrating for both parties. What we're working towards is putting product ownership all in one place for customers. Whether you purchased directly through the Cakewalk store, or through an online-retailer and redeemed a code, or bought a box at a brick and mortar shop, your ownership will all be in once place.

There are also tons of improvements we can offer in the future that I won't go into all of the details on at the moment, but essentially the efforts have everything to do with better support for our customers. This will allow our various websites to run more efficiently and will allow us to roll out new features we've been tossing around for a while. The My Account page is just a start by offering better delivery of our products.

The forum just happened to be a paradigm we new we could bring into the fold of this new sign on without disrupting everyone too much.

To follow up my issue with #11...  I was sent a new password (did Ryan trigger this?) and I still can't log in with this password. I tried clearing cache/cookies and using different browsers.

Hi Alex,

I didn't trigger it but anyone can trigger password resets at https://www.cakewalk.com/My-Account/Lost-Password

You'll have to excuse the obvious question, but how are you posting if you're not logged in :)

To clarify for everyone, in case this might be what you're running into, but the "My Store Account" link that brings you to our online store is not currently part of Single Sign On. Could that be what you're running into? Sorry for the confusion if that's the case!

Ryan I covered all this in post #11, no I can't trigger a password reset and I can only log in via a hyperlink sent to me when account was migrated.

I did get one password sent to me and it will not work on any browser with cookies/cache cleared.

I'll paste to you #11 your convenience please read!  !!!

I can authenticate via verification link that was sent to me.
However I can't log in with old password.
I cant change password whilst logged in.
If I click "Lost password" and enter username I get "The internet is broken".

Help I need a password :).
Thanks!

I'm not being stupid here and I've tried logging in everywhere.
 HELP!!!!

Hi Alex,

Can you try manually hitting the logoff page first?

https://www.cakewalk.com/My-Account/Logoff

Then, try using the Password reset?

Have done so, makes no difference in any browser. Cheers.
I had quite a long password I wonder if it got truncated. Having said that the password emailed to me (somehow) will not work either.

Thanks. I think I've identified an issue you need to know about as well unrelated to specific accounts. I'll let you know when you PM me. Ta.

Just to say I was having a grim time logging onto the forum using I.E. so I went to Chrome and used the log in version on the right to migrate the account rather than log in as an existing user (as it doesn't know who I am), got an email that had a link that I pasted into the Chrome browser and then got an "Internet Broken" warning.
I pasted the link into I.E. and it worked.
My "new" account lists a lot of products so I guess it all worked out okay

It is frustrating when you want to ask a question on the forum about logging onto the forum but you can't log onto the forum to ask the question!!!

Grum.

Thanks for the reply, Ryan and yeah... I shouldn't speculate. Honestly I thought it didn't matter where you got your stuff just as long as you registered it through the site (which AFAIK is required) it would show up in the store account.

Either way, I have no problems as of now (but it is weird I am not seeing the same things others seem to be) and I'm not helping anything so unless anyone specifically needs my input (doubtful) I'll let this thread be. All my stuff seems to be exactly as it was.

Cheers.

I had no issues with the link supplied via email on IE or Chrome myself. It's the only thing that gets me in right now.
