It may be a matter of most (if not all) of those who volunteered being chosen.

 
If you're referring to the Hosts then I can say I didn't get it.

 
I was referring to everyone.

If you're referring to those who volunteered to beta test the download system by signing up with their email,  it was picked at random from those that signed up and I didn't get that either.

Fair enough.  I had the impression that those who wanted to step up to the plate were welcomed to do so.

It was clear on the signup page that a few folk would be chosen randomly,  they were.  I wasn't one of them

I signed up, but decided on going with jrrshop and 16% off. I was never contacted by Cakewalk, but I would decline anyway. I'm not in a rush...I don't have time this weekend to mess with it anyway.

Not because I  have to....but because I don't like this
"selective early upgrade" policy...it's not fair to "paying" customers
to selectively allow "privileged" users to upgrade first while "others" have
to wait...that's very POOR business practice...and very poor
BUSINESS PERIOD.

A fair and level playing field says either

A) everyone gets it now
B) everyone gets it later

But, since Cakewalk is now a "Club" with Membership dues and all,
rather then an "actual" DAW,  I guess, as with ALL clubs,
the "higher ups" get the privileges...while us low lifes get the
dregs....

Hi Larry,
my view of this story is the total oppsosite .
Each and nearly every member is having the new X4 earlier as me,
the exclusive club is were we are in.
We also don´t pay for beta testing (joking )

I've been a Sonar customer since v2.x.  I have purchased about every upgrade along the way.  I have participated here on the forum for years (at varying levels) as an active community member, even with video tutorials and Cakewalk advocacy, and I've even signed up to be an official beta tester (which I've never actually been).
 
I haven't been invited.
 
And I'm not offended.

Nor should you be!    I've also been on-board since SONAR 2 and have participated in these forums since the day they started, as reflected in my avatar... though my post count is not nearly as high as many others.  And I'm not a host.  However, I was chosen a few days later than others (the invite seems to be staggered).   So as I see it the selection definitely isn't "fixed" just based on the variety of users chosen so far, from long-timers to high-posters to relative newbies.  
 

Just wait for NAMM - about three days. THEN you will be able to buy it and actually get it

Here's the issue...
 
Anytime you do something like this you make some customers feel "empowered"
because they DID get chosen (Yeah right) and the ones who didn't get chosen
will most likely feel "left out".  It's called "alienation" of "some" paying customers in favor
of "others".

As I stated, I COULD have bought in ...but didn't....FAIR IS FAIR...
 
and OF COURSE the Hosts and those who are here 90% of the time (most of whom
DID get "randomly" selected (Barf) are going to say "Yeah it's ok"....WHY would they
say anything else...(Cake-ites)

BUT - FAIRNESS AND REALITY SAY
 
That everyone should have been treated equally....END OF STORY...no special "lottery"
no some will some won't....blah blah blah...BAD BUSINESS...END OF STORY....

So keep on keeping on boyz and girlz...most people are already aware that most of you
aren't living in "FAIR AND REALITY" land anyways...

No they forgot that they were going to let me be one of the pre-testers - I reminded them but they still forgot :-)

Nope, I don't have it either. I signed up but bought it from Sweetwater so guess that leaves me out of the pool party. I've actually already paid for it but since I bought it thru sweetwater using my paypal acct, I don't expect it before the 1/21/2015 release date.
 

I was one of the lucky ones, no idea why, I  haven't had any luck since I won a pair of roller blades from Coca Cola and then hurt my self the first time I wore them. (Granted trying to go down the stairs in them was never going to turn out well)
But degress, Then new features are rocking, I'm just getting my teeth stuck into them, but I feel like I'm only scratching the surface.
I've not had any issues yet, even just writing this makes me excited for what's to come.
