• SONAR
  • AD2 - I already have it (and some packs) - does Sonar Platinum have extras?

When installing Sonar Platinum I chose not to install AD2 because I already bought it, plus various add-ons, from XLN. Does anyone know how I can check to see if there are some add-ons with Sonar Platinum I don't have, and if there are, how I go about installing them?  Thanks.

If you already had X3 Producer? You will only need to install Sonar Platinum (the core program) and Anderton's FX Chains. Just click on Sonar Platinum and when it opens its contents. Click on Sonar Platinum and select "Install," then click on Anderton's FX chains and select "Install."

With the Addictive Drums Producer Bundle? You get 3 kits, 3 midi packs and 3 kit pieces.

If you already have all the kits? I would contact their support and see what they are willing to swap for, ie. midi packs, addictive keys or you might even be able to wrangle, Peavey Revalver 4, out of them?... But that is a "maybe?"

Thanks.
I've emailed XLN Support. I've asked about 'Session Percussion' which is one of the few add-ons I don't have. I'll post the reply.

Just register your new serial number and select 3 packs of Sounds, midi and drums pieces

Yes. I have bought addictive drums 2 by myself.
With Sonar X3 I some got kits additional.
And with Sonar Platinum I got again 3 kits, 3 midi packs and 3 kit pieces additional.
The update from X3 to Platinum was cheaper then to buy 3 kits.

The update price is 149 and you get AD2 Professional package included(3 X adpacks, midipacks, kitpieces which sells for 150 at xlnaudio). It is like but Sonar grade and get AD2 Pro totally free, or the other way around. This is a good deal.

When you register your Serial from Cakewalk store in a box "Product Key" on XLN web site, it opens options to select. You select what you don't have. I was staying up till 4 am last night thinking what to take because everything sounded weak- nothing strikes as "Wow- I want to have this". I took Session percussions, Machines, and Funk, I believe. This is free, so I took it. They really need to come up with more content. No need to contact them unless you have all 20 packs. Also they are friendly with response.

I find online examples of samples always sound WAY weaker and crummier than the real thing once it's installed. Every single sample pack I've ever bought/picked up sounded ten times better once I had it up and running in the drum sequencer. You just kind of have to "hear" through the crummy online compression, media players and onboard sound devices.

I stick to real kit samples though... not the electronic stuff which to me always sounds cheesy.

XLN are releasing more AD2 stuff in 2015, so if you don't know what you want, why not wait unti something comes up.
