One way of using offset is this:
- Let's say you've created a mix with lots of volume automation on a track.
- After a while you feel the overall volume of this track is to loud..
- Now, instead of selecting the automation and trying to mix by dragging the lane up and down, you can type 'o' and decrease the volume with the actual fader, just as you normally would do when mixing.
- The automation you've created (in automation mode) will still be in effect, but with the overall changed volume you set in offset mode.
