I just installed Sonar X3 on my PC I haven't had much time to do anything.Tonight I started step sequencing some drum parts using AD2 for some demo ideas. I am having an issue on one song where during playback random beats won't play. It's not the same each time and it's not the same pattern each time. There seems to be no rhyme or reason behind it. Any ideas from anyone on this?

I tried freezing the track and played perfect when I unfroze it it started missing beats again but not til the last 2 patterns. So far there are only 9 patterns.

Your midi playback buffers are too small, try setting them to 512. Edit->Preferences->Midi->Playback and Recording

Dropped notes usually indicates too small a "Prepare Using nnn Millisecond Buffers" in Preferences > Audio > Playback and Recording. Try increasing the value to 500 or 750.

FWIW, since this is a time value, there is no need to use a factor of 2 for the buffer setting.

While we are on strange things going on with my drum tracks/step sequencing.... I tried to load a couple of projects from my old (DEAD) pc that I had backed up. Everything loaded just fine with the exception of the step sequencer patterns. The synth is there. Just no patterns. Luckily I wasn't very far into the projects so I am not losing too much but any advice on how to save/back up my projects better so the patterns come along too? I'd really like to be able to start working on drum patterns on my laptop during lunch breaks then bring them home to  my desktop for demo work.

Thanks guys for all of your help!

I bounced all my step sequencer clips. When I want to re-edit them, I cut the midi clip and reopened it in step sequencer.

The patterns should be in a folder - to the best of my recollection.  I am in the middle of reloading my primary music computer, so I cannot look it up, but that is what my brain is telling me to type for a suggestion.

Perhaps your Folder Locations for where to get patterns is not set correctly to where you have/had them.

Just a thought -
