CakeAlex, it is very common to blame software issues on Chipset and drivers. I only install Windows 8.1 compatible drivers. I have latest chipset that was available from Asus for my motherboard, all drivers for Windows 8.1. This is dedicated music computer- I do not have any other software on it, nothing to conflict. It does not go search/download software from internet, it regularly scanned for Viruses. It stays off most of days and only used for Sonar. I have about 300 plugins count, but VST plugin is nothing but .dll file in the file folder. Unless it open, it does nothing to anything. If I was recording guitars and vocal, Sonar would be stable. It crashes with Software synths. It is less dramatic than it used to be in the past, but I can still make it crash on demand if I try very hard. Especially if somebody important is in the studio, lol.
Beepster, topic "Where are Cakewalk talents" does not imply that there are no talents. It implies that we can not see them. I said- it will be helpful if I came to the web site and was able to see who makes the software- that way I would know what to expect in the future. Software developers should be advertised just like musicians. If you are a record label who wants to have subscription music service, and you just signed new hot Electronic music producer, would you put his/her profile on the front page with the history and samples of his/her work, or would you say, "Great music is coming up, go ahead, sign up for a year of service- we will have music soon, we promise." I know Yamaha has Peter Krishetskiy from Easy sound making sounds for their hardware and software. Love this guy's wokr. If Cakewalk said, "We just signed contract with Krishetsky to create presents for our upcoming releases", I would be jumping on my chair and signing my subscription contract. If there are new interesting talents, why not introduce them and show what they can do? It can not harm.
