I assume it's ok to change the download address from the C: default in the Command Centre tools? I don't have enough room on C: anymore and anyway I keep all my downloads on a D: drive.

(I just got the email invite and going for it! More later!)

NB: £ exchange rate seems to be $1.50 to the pound. Price was £118.80, i.e. £99 plus 20% VAT.

I sure hope so, too. I haven't used C: for downloading for over ten years. It's just not that good an idea.

Ok, paid my money, Command Centre updated.
Problem right off the bat.  Tried first component install 'Classic Creative FX Suite' and got this:

The installer was stuck in a loop until I acknowledged the pop up and then a message said the suite was installed. But it can't be can it? So now what?? I have 'normal' Sonar installs X1 to X3 and never fiddled around with components default directories, etc.

I guess this is why Cakewalk are inviting some users to early installation - so we iron out all the bloody problems.

More updates as I pick my way through this...

Ok, first lesson learned.
I'd assumed Sonar Platinum was an upgrade to X3, but it isn't.
I didn't want to install the audio loops so I was trying to install from the components list one by one from the top. I should have installed Sonar Platinum first (and picked 'Install' and not 'Install All'). Now things are going smoother.
More as and when.

Small suggestion to CW: I would have put something like "Sonar Main Program - Install First" at the top of the list of suites/components.

I haven't got the new program but could figure out you would install the main program before the ancillary components .

Grum.

All seems cool! It took me 30 minutes and apart from the slip I made above I'm up and running. My MASTER.INS and plugin addresses have all migrated ok, as in upgrades of yore.

I like the Control Centre - I already have similar for IK, AD Drums and NI, called 'Authorisation Manager', 'Online Installer' and 'Service Centre' respectively.

I've chosen not to install a number of things I don't often use in Sonar as it's very easy to open the Control Centre and install one later.

I'm a happy camper.

Hey Skyline, thanks for this !
I have never used C: drive for anything except OS, and I use a lot of different drives like D: (Applications), M: (Music projects), S: (Sample Libraries, VST dll's, etc.) and V: (Video).  I've had to adjust the folders in SONAR everytime a new version comes out, which takes a while (e.g. also reconfiguring a lot of other "default" items).
The tip to just install Platimun alone first is great as I normally say "all" too.

I wonder why Cakewalk can't save a previous folders configuration before an update ?

Skyline,
Thanks for sharing your installation diary. It will help those who follow.

Great idea - I wish I'd seen this last night -  I did the "Install All" option and then got distracted watching CakeTV, basically missed the whole install process :) so I don't know if there was even an option to migrate X3P settings...

This morning I uninstalled/reinstalled the core app but still didn't see any migration type options, think I'll try to leave it alone for now and get immersed :).
Thanks!
