I understand that whether or not if you buy up front or pay monthly you will receive updates/fixes through out that 12 month period.  What I want to know is, after the 12 months are up how do I go about getting fixes(if needed) or updates?  Are they provided at no charge or do I need to start paying a monthly fee to get the updates?  So I would pay $149 for platinum plus additional months membership for every month after?

If I am required to pay, and an update comes out in month 13, 14 & 15, yet I don't download the update will I need to pay for 3 months worth of updates?  At what point do your project updates/fixes cease?

I hope I made some sort of sense.

When you subscribe for 12 months, or buy upfront, you get all new features and bug fixes for 12 months. After that, you must renew upfront or renew your subscription for another 12 months to keep any new features or bug fixes that are released during the next 12 months. If you unsubscribe at month 18, your version will rollback to the version at month 12.

At least, this is my understanding based on reading a few hundred posts...lol.

Dan

hmmm.  Interesting.  Basically sounds like they want you to spend $150(for Platinum users) every year until you quit or change.

Everything's a subscription....

Ask yourself what you did when 8.5 became X1  or X1 became X2  Did you pay for the upgrade or did you expect to get it for free???

At what point do you project updates/fixes to cease?

They will not cease until Cakewalk changes the membership scheme, replaces Sonar completely with something else or goes out of business.

It is an on-going, continuous upgrade program.  There are no new versions of Sonar from now on.  Just a constantly improving product.

But if you stop after a year to pay, you keep the entire functional product for your life.
That's the big difference to Adobe.

I don't know what all the fuss is about but only the names have changed. It's still the same service.

Exactly what I have been saying OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER again.

Mebbee I should just stop beating my head against the wall expecting it not to hertz.

That's the only part of all this that doesn't make complete sense to me. In keeping with the "you keep everything you've paid for up to that point" theme, shouldn't you be able to retain any updates/bug fixes you've paid for, even if you cease your membership payments part way through the year, and just not receive anything new after that? (At least after the initial 12 month cost, so that you've at least paid for the equivalent of a whole new version of the program.)

I absolutely don't mind paying for enhancement updates.  Thats why I'm at x3 now.  If things are not working properly however I think that is something that should be considered beyond subscription.
