Yes, $150 for pro.... :) ONE payment, and I didn't have to join anything to get the patch.

We've always had to pay for bug patches.  Where have you been ?
 
A version (at least recently) has been an initial release followed by one or more quick patches to fix the showstoppers that appeared once everyone was using the product.  Then that was it.  No more bug fixes until the next version, which you had to pay for.
 
Now, hopefully, bugs will get fixed all year long.  But you'll still have to pay for them after your 12 months are up.

X3"E" was not free, nor were the A, B, C or D patches.  In order to get X3e you had to have paid for X3 at some point, which included a cost for "patches".

And if I paid for the patches in the 1st place as you just said..... why is cakewalk changing how they do it.... HUM.... TO MAKE MORE MONEY.... And if they are MAKING MORE MONEY.....WHEN DOES IT COME FORM?

and you can make ONE payment of $149 now and get the equivalent of the next TWO versions...  X4, which is already written and being released,  and X5 which would have been due about this time next year...

Are you thinking that after you pay up fron $150 (same as before) update X3 pro to SONAR platinum, that you *also* have to pay a monthly fee?  That's just incorrect.  There is no further charge (and SONAR platinum upgrade you buy for $150 never "stops" working) If you pay the $150 you the the upgrade and you get "free" updates etc for a year.

You're absolutely right, it is what it is.  It's just not what you're describing.

Well MORE people know the truth but they don't hang here. they are using there DAW right now... I'm only here for a whisper to work out some bugs... If you look to the left.... notice most of the people who don't agree with you are newer.... hum..... yes! the new and soon to be X customers...

From the end users view nothing has changed except they are allowing users to pay monthly instead of having to pay up front. If you pay either up front the full amount or opt for the monthly plan you get all the patches and fixes. There is no extra payment being charged.

Perhaps you missed the part about becoming a member when you buy it or make your first payment. This is automatic and does not incur new charges,
