Hello,
I have been trying to get all of my plugins to work and now I am in X3 32 bit mode. All 389 VSTs and DirectX plugs work except SampleMoog and SampleTron.
 
Any ideas?
 
also every time I do a VST scan Waves are grouped. that's fin, but other plugins seem to move in the list location.
Mainly Slate and Antares, keep hiding or moving and I have to rescan. 
 
Anything?
 

I know the IK plug-ins can be tricky to authorize. Do the stand alone versions work correctly?
 
Never heard of floating plug-in locations in the plug-in lists. Are you using the "Default - All plugins" layout?

Stand alones work and I have had them working in past installs.. this is a weird one...
but the other times when SampleMoog, Tron worked others soft synths did not work...
 
on the floating plugins...  Waves VST3 are all in one fly out menu, DirectX are all in one fly out menu.
then VST2 is where most of the plugins are but sometimes some move to  an extra fly out menu... or don't show up at all. other times I have to reinstall some, too many issues to remember.
just thought I would ask in case someone had an easy fix...

They are sensitive to having admin rights - what happens if you run Sonar as administrator?

Yeah, running as admin may be the key. Might need to work the IK issues with IK tech support. They are no stranger to getting their software working in SONAR.
 
Using the "Default All Plug-ins" layout.
 
VST3 plug-ins have an option where you are specifying the layout to origanize VST3 plug-ins by category. Most vendors add category information to their plug-ins. If the vendor fails to add category information, the plug-in will be at the VST3 top level. I have never disabled this option but would expect if the option is disable, the layout would work like VST2.
 
 
VST2 plug-ins are organized by the directory tree the dlls are found in. The dlls are the top level of the VST paths will be shown in the VST list top level. Dlls in subdirectories are listed in submenus. If you have enough VST2 plug-ins there should be arrows at the top and bottom of the list to scroll through them.
 
DirectX should be origanized by vendor.
 
If this was an upgrade did you perform this task http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/2007013315/SONAR-X3-Full-VST-Rescan-Recommended-for-Upgraders after upgrading. It should only need to be done once but could not hurt to do again.
 
Out of curiosity what is your plug-in count? I ask because I have seen very large counts sometimes not build complete lists if the background scan is running while opening a project. SONAR will occasionally issue a waring message about it.

Plugin count is like 396... maybe that's the main thing too many... Yes I keep scanning to see what happens!
I also have excluded some that don't seem to work and I don't care if they work. but I need the Moog and Tron plugs to work. 
 

I don't think that is a large plug-in count. Repeat scanning is not what I suggested. A single Reset and Rescan does solve some issues. Running SONAR as administrator may also help with older plug-ins like the IK synths. If you have other XP era plug-ins, running SONAR as administrator may help with them too.

I have many of IK FX plugins and they all work.

I've only ever had permissions problems with instruments rather than fx, so I still think it would be worth you running as admin. If that solves it, reinstall the vstis as admin

OK, Cool!, I set X3 to admin. and ran a scan... they both work now. but do I have to always set X3 to admin
or do you think if I uninstall and reinstall moog and tron as admin they will work without X3 admin "on" for every boot up?
