Thanks for all the info. This is getting interesting. Has anyone tried this one?
STUDIO-CAPTURE USB 2.0 Audio Interface

A member over at Studiotrax forums has this one and from what I can gather he likes it quite a bit.

I am very happy with my Roland octa- capture (8 ins compared to 16 on studio).  Rock solid, built with metal, comes with rack ears and very good GUI with Windows.  No problems at all.

Not to steal Craig's thunder w/ Tascam, but the new(ish) UH-7000 is pretty darn good.  Not the greatest low latency drivers - about 12 ms in/out on my system, but I haven't tried to tweak it either.  Other than the drivers, it is a really high-end unit.  Excellent conversion and stellar preamps.  Clean, but sweet.  I doubt if I'd pay $600 for conversion - it is better but not by hundreds of dollars.  Even budget converters are really good.  But combined w/ the preamps it is a really stout-sounding unit and you don't need external hardware to make recordings that play w/ the big boys.  No midi and stereo only, but it is very good.

I try to resist the temptation to hype Gibson Brands products here, but the UH-7000 really is top of the line in terms of audio quality. They're marketing it as a stereo mic pre, not just an interface. If you compare the specs to anyone else, you can't help but be impressed.

Speaking of USB audio interfaces, is anyone making a USB 3 soundcard? Just did a search and can't find a thing. I'm still using an M-Audio Audiophile PCI card and it seems OK (just me recording). Specs are as good as anything around (or better). But might upgrade if I could find a USB 3.0 or better. Heard USB 3.1 was much faster than 3.0. Thanks.

Please don't divert my thread. If you have questions about USB 3, why not start a new thread? I'm trying to get suggestions on specific models that I'm considering to replace my UX8. Thanks.

Sorry if I'm diverting from your thread. But if USB 3 is available you might be interested in that.

Possibly, but since like you said, there doesn't seem to be too much info on it, I'm trying to stick with what people have experience with. No apology needed and I'm sorry if I came across as being harsh.  I meant it in the nicest way possible.

RME makes a USB 3 interface and more from other companies are in the works, but USB 2 has sufficient bandwidth to handle all but the most demanding recording situations (e.g., lots of tracks at 192 kHz).
