I was thinking of getting X3 producer...

...but it looks like my laptop won't handle it:
2.30 gigahertz Intel Core i7-3610QM, 16 gigs RAM
OTOH, I read here
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Core-i7-3610QM-Notebook-Processor.72681.0.htm
this:
The
Intel Core i7-3610QM
is a fast quad-core processor for laptops based on the Ivy Bridge architecture. Due to Hyperthreading, the four cores can handle up to eight threads in parallel leading to better utilization of the CPU. Each core offers a base speed of 2.3 GHz but can dynamically increase clock rates with Turbo Boost up to 3.1 GHz (for 4 active cores), 3.2 GHz (for 2 active cores) and 3.3 GHz (for 1 active core).
Any comments? I'll have to decide soon.
TIA-

That is fine for X3 as long as it is running Win7 or newer.

Hi scook-
I wasn't sure, since the specs say Intel Core 2 Duo E8200
2.67 GHz
. I have a dual boot Win7/Win8.1 x64 setup.
Thanks very much!

Core 2 Duo is an older processor which predates the i7. The clock speed is not an issue.

Good to see you back in the old neighborhood, Susan. I thought you'd gone over to Reaperland?
And yes, your laptop should handle X3 no problem.

Nice to see you're round Susan. Welcome back.
I've got a laptop with an i7. 720 cpu with only 4 gig ram (4 gig recently removed) and it runs sonar X3e Producer no problem even x64.
