  • [Workaround] Arpeggiator Has A Mind Of Its Own

Hello,

I am using Cakewalks Arpeggiator on a softsynth track and I swear the thing has a mind of its own.  It doesn't always play the same notes in the same spot.  Is this normal does anyone know?

Thanks,
Adam

I think I've had a similar frustration with the arpeggiator in the past. What I always end up doing is bouncing the notes to MIDI so that they're burned into a clip. Then you can edit and adjust them to taste.

Here's an old post about what I found with real-time Arp timing early on:

I don't really use it, so I haven't revisited the problem since then. As James mentioned, bouncing should take care of it.

I've just started with my new X3 upgrade and the arp is increasing the output volume greatly above the volume if the arp is off.  It pegs the meter.  I can only remedy this by reducing arp-velocity to <10% of normal.  This isn't the way X2 worked.  Flaw or new settings not shown in the Ref. Guide?

I like when the arp jams up.  I've had it on a MIDI track (one that sends MIDI to outboard gear) just continuously play despite hitting the "panic" button and/or turning on/off the audio engine.

The built in arp is useful however, and I use it often.  I like using it to just continuously play a 1/4 or 1/8 note to an outboard synth as I build and tweak patches.

Volume boost only happens with SI instruments on certain presets.  No other instruments, MIDI nor VST plug-ins,, have this dramatic volume boost upon using the arp.  SI issues?  I'll learn to work without some of the weird-acting presets.

Huh... I like that idea.
