Ok, I added the default midi echo/delay plug-in that came with it and it works great but I can not make it 'wet', it plays both the original note and the delayed one, I was finally able to almost get it work by turning down the original velocity and letting the module amplify it which gave me a very soft original note and a louder delayed note, using that config I ran a few songs to see if it would track the tempo changes which it DID!  So if I could just figure out how to get it fully wet I am all set?  Perhaps a plug-in I need to download??

I have not used the MIDI Delay - I will have a look as soon as I get a chance.

Try using an audio VST - Sonitus or Channel Tools, perhaps.

Have you recorded the output of the Yamaha into Sonar?  If so, insert it on that track.

Or are you listening to the Yamaha playing "live", as it were.  In this case, can you not route the piano through Sonar, add the delay and use input echo.

Perhaps describe exactly what you are doing.  I may be misunderstanding something really simple.

Yes, I am using this for Live performance so using audio plug-ins is not useful.  Input delay is exactly what I need but the midi echo plug-in does not seem to have a full 'wet' setting (a way to keep the original notes from playing).  Another 'delay only' plug-in would be perfect if someone knows of such a thing.

THankx again all,

Could you just explain the setup in a little more depth, please. Routing, etc.

When you say live performance, are you triggering the piano from Sonar - is it to play live?

The more detailed that you are, the more likely it is that we might be able to help.

Thanks.

Sonar triggers everything live, I have a Motif-Rack and a host of other synth's as well as a pipe organ and piano all wired to usb midi mufti-port's.

Thankx again for you help,
J

Also I have the straight version of X3, would perhaps the studio version offer more help for me?

I just can't get the built in delay to stop using the original (dry) note, does someone know of another delay plug-in I could get??

So close but still beating my head on the wall.

Thankx again,
J
