I'm new to the forum so I apologize in advance if this has been answered before, but here is my problem:
I am using a Tascam US-1800 16-input interface in Sonar X3. Under the "Tracks" drop-down menu, I am able to go in and assign all 16 inputs to each track that I want them recorded to, but whenever I start a new project, I have to do it all over again. It's kind of a pain since my band usually uses 12 to 14 inputs. So every time we record, I have to assign the track inputs again. Does anyone know of any way these preferences can be saved? Just to be clear, I am referring to the menu option "Selected Track Inputs." Can I set a default setting where all my inputs are already assigned to the tracks as soon as I start a new project? Also, I always like to name the tracks so I know what they are. (so instead of "Track 1," "Track 2," etc., mine usually say "Kick," "Snare," etc.) Can these names be saved for future projects too? Any help here would be greatly appreciated. I pretty much record with the same layout every time, so it'd be nice if I didn't have to assign inputs and name tracks every single time. I would think there has to be a way to make Sonar remember my preferences

Welcome to the forum.
Open a new project. Name it My Template.
Select the 16 Track Audio template.
Set all the inputs; name accordingly.
Save then close the template.
Re-open My Template and ensure everything is as you set it.

Yes.  Set up a blank project the way you want (inputs, track names etc.) and then save as a template.  You can then open a new project from that template.

For my band I have a template that also has many other common items, such as effects set with good starting settings, busses and routings, even fader levels.  Makes it easy to get a quick mix.

SONAR uses Normal.cwt as the default template. I usually save the original Normal.cwt to a different name so it is available for reference. Then create my own Normal.cwt with the settings I always use.

Thank you very much for the quick responses. Neirbod, how do you save your project as a template? I don't see that option anywhere

In the "Save As" dialog set "Save as type" and "Go to Folder" as shown below
