Waldorf's Lector. Nice piece of sw.

That looks tasty, I stumbled on this http://www.tubeohm.com/TubeOhm/VOCODER-II.html , but the demos vids are a bit angry. There is a demo version, that could be worth checking out.

Craig, don't forget about the Reaktor stuff (I'm assuming you own Reaktor). They have a "classic vocoder" effect in their library and I think a few others in either the built in library or the user library.

I was going to do a project last year that was to heavily use Vocoders and I picked up Vocodex
http://www.image-line.com/plugins/Effects/Vocodex/

I was looking for something that had high intelligibility, came in both 32 & 64 bit and either free or reasonably priced.
Vocodex seamed to fit the bill (and was also 50% off at the time).

The project ended up getting shelved so I never ended up putting it (Vocodex) through it's paces.

At some point project may get restarted so I am interested in seeing what you finally end up choosing.

I have the original version of SONiVOX's Vocalizer and it did a really good job on any audio source you fed into it. They now have version 1.1 and advertise it with:

"Vocalizer Pro 1.1 is a totally unique MIDI controlled effect processor that can transform any audio track, any audio source, or the output from any VI in your DAW host into an unbelievably lush, musical, performance instrument. It’s unlike anything you’ve ever heard.
Part instrument, part processor, Vocalizer Pro 1.1 is the ultimate instrument expansion tool. Offering endless sound-sculpting possibilities, Vocalizer Pro 1.1 is ready to harmonize, modify, fortify, enhance, and re-synthesize any instrument—or any sound—in ways you never thought possible. Two rows of MIDI-mappable pads provide unbelievable performance control."

+1 on Melda's vocoder. For best results, though, it's best to use it with a high number of slices, which implies high resource usage. So "freeze" is your friend.

I too have Sonivox's vocalizer, and I did get some great sounds out of it. Unfortunately, even though Sonivox are still selling the original version, they won't provide 64-bit compatibility for it, and instead try to force people to upgrade to "Pro". Not an issue in Sonar, I know.

Melda and tal were 2 I was gonna mention.. you can do some nice stuff using alchemy by camel IRC. depends if you strictly want a vocoder.

also Waldorf Lector but you use a dongle probably.. as I use largo.

may have a few more.. I do use things to "mangle" sounds etc. but not strictly vocoders.. and some have really bad interfaces, but thats good as it keeps others away :D

There seems quite a lot of demos with the Vocodex, due to FL. I don't understand why more manufactures don't make more of Youtube. Was trying to find out yestrerday what was next on the horizon for AAS, if they were going to release a new string studio (which does need an overhaul) or model a new range, but they seem inept at social media, and the facebook page is hardly worth having.

B&H seem to have a the best price on the Vocodex

Wow, that MeldaProduction MVocoder plug in is very impressive!

I didn't think there was a vocoder that could match or surpass the Orange Vocoder, but MVocoder does!

I'm gonna have to get it! I've been looking for a plug in package that would be comprehensive for composing, mixing and mastering and truely high quality, as well. Actually, after reading on MeldaProduction's  site in recent days past and watching those tutorials on MVocoder, today, I am hypnotically impressed by MeldaProduction! I think I may, eventually, go ahead and buy their MTotalBundle.
