  • A little help with Presonus Faderport 8 please!

First off, apologies if this question has been asked before, but the "search forum" facility doesn't seem to be working.

I've just got a Presonus Faderport 8 to go with Sonar X3, and I must say I'm pretty pleased with it. Of course not all the functionality works (to encourage you to switch to Studio One Professional, I guess) but it does everything I want it to. Except...

It's got a footswitch option, so I plugged in a footswitch that I had lying around (non-latching). It works, in that I press it once, it starts playback, I press it again and it stops. But of course, what I expected it to do is let me start/stop recording, not playback. I can't find anything in the Faderport documentation, and a Google search has been fruitless so far.

Anyone out there cracked this problem?

Cheers
Gary

Try using the MIDI learn function to try and make it initiate recording instead of playback

It only starts and stops. Try pre-roll  setup and then use the pedal.

The product definition says "Footswitch input for hands-free start / stop" so I think that is it's limit.

Assuming you are using MackieControl in Sonar (as in Presonus docs for using Faderport 8 in Sonar):
From Sonar menu open Utilities / Mackie Control
In the "Foot Switches" section, change "Play/Stop" to "Record"

Hello all, and thanks for your responses. Finally cracked it yesterday - it's as azslow3 states in his response above, though I got there via the teeny weeny Controller/Surface Properties icon in the Act module of the toolbar. But you wouldn't believe the time and effort I spent to find that out! Googled every possible combination of keywords I could think of.

So all good and up and running now. Haven't read many positive comments on the Faderport 8 within the Sonar Forums, but I for one and pretty pleased with it so far.

(Just realised I originally posted this question under my old Gazzamundo profile - confused? You betcha!)
