  • set "select from" and "select thru" without two mouse grabs?

Another possibly dumb question, but I searched help and searched keyboard shortcuts for both "select thru" (the tooltip label) and "selection" (the control bar label).    I very frequently want to set a selection by means of measure/beat numbers, both the start and end.  I'm having to grab the mouse twice, once to click "set from", then type the bar/beat, then grab the mouse, click "set thru" and type the bar/beat.   Any way to get from "set from" to "set thru" by means of the keyboard?    And, no I'd prefer not to try to highlight the selection with the mouse, because I work from a score and the proposed selection will usually be outside the visible range on the screen just then, requiring a great deal of zooming out then back in to get it.   Thanks!

Shift+F6 opens the Select by Time dialog where you can enter both values in one go. Or you can use the mouse more and type less; some options:

1. Drag in the timeline with snap enabled at quarters (or finer as necessary); the view will scroll as necessary.
2. Drag with the smart tool in the lower half of a specific track (the parent, not a lane).
3. Insert markers at frequently used selection points and click in the timeline between two of them.
4. Click in the timeline and hit From=Now shortcut (used to be F9, and still is with my keybindings), click later in the timeline and hit Thru=Now shortcut (used to be F10 and still is with my keybindings).

Thank you!   Shift F6 was what I was looking for.
