That is totally wrong about MIDI.
Lots of things have changed. You can not do things the way you did them in Sonar 2.
no offence intended, but not all change is positive. if i can no longer see everything in one glance; if i have to triple the amount of clicking than before just to change a sound; if i have to re-jig my workflow to fit the way the developer wants rather than the way i want, then i say that these changes are for the worse, not better.
luckily my music pc is dual-boot Win XP/Win 7 and i can keep both Sonar versions intact and alive at the same time - if i ever need to use X3 again it will be waiting for me. until then i'll go back to v2.2 - X3 didn't cost me anywhere near as much as v2 did, and i won't be heartbroken if it never gets used. the melodyne plugin works as a stand-alone and also runs in XP so it's still a minor win as i see it - a small gain, and nothing lost.
---> just discovered the Steam version of X3 *does not require Steam running* - that is another hurdle overcome. nice.
