Fellow Cakewalk users, I have Sonar X3 studio X3b build 216 64 bit.  I record audio to the metronome click and then at playback the timing is off significantly. I tested this by recording a simple stick hit to the metronome and checked the alignment on the track and its off quite a bit. See photo.  I searched the forums and see others have had this problem in older versions. Can anyone help? It sorta makes the whole DAW useless for me. I am sure its operator error so any help is appreciated.

First, update to X3e. It's free and IIRC it fixed some timing issues. If you still have problems, circle back and we'll attack them.

You say you are recording audio, but i think you are relaly recording MIDI data and not actual audio. so with that in mind, you probably have auto 'quantize' settings enabled and this is why its off

No sir I am recording audio to the metronome using a microphone and some drum sticks to compare. The good news is I updated my version to x3e and tested twice so far and timing is right on so I hope this solves it. I am going to lay down a long audio recording to metronome tomorrow just to make sure. thanks for your input.

DYFLWD - you have to excuse cj. His comprehension is a little limited as English is not his first language. Wink wink nudge nudge say na more!

You're welcome cj.

Well all I had to do was patch to X3e and my timing problems seem to be solved. Recorded audio to the metronome and lined up perfectly less my own timing error of course. Thank you everyone for your input and help.
