  • Breverb Automation not working

I have Breverb added to a 5.1 surround bus, and need to apply automation to the Wet Level. The problem I'm running into is that upon pressing play, the wet level moves to the position of the envelope, but never moves with the envelope. If I stop playback and start it again, it jumps to the current envelope value at that point and stays there. (It's a continuous envelope; there are no dotted-line sections) I didn't do anything unusual in adding the plug-in or in the settings--just inserted the effect into the surround bus effect bin, enabled automation read (blue R in the plugin window) and added the envelope in the track drop-down. I've been simply adding nodes where I want the wet level to change.

Any ideas?

Current version is Sonar X3e - Build 352 x64

Thanks

Is this just breverb (have you tried other effects?).

What version of Breverb? Have latest updates been applied for it?

I've just observed it on Breverb - the DLL's file version is 2.0.10.0

Just noticed that it's also adding some faint sputtering artifacts on some high sustained peaks even though I still have about 12dB headroom at that point. Remember VHS Hi-Fi tapes when the tracking was slightly off? sounds exactly like that.

This is me, "stickjam" - just switched my SSO ID.

Anyway - one other thing I found is that the wet level fader only jumps to the current envelope level at start of playback when the plugin's UI window is open.  With the UI closed, the wet level does nothing.

I might work around it by adding another surround bus as a sidechain effect and switching the envelope to fader level.

However the distortion is bothersome.  Is 2.0.10.0 the latest version of Breverb 2?    The project is a theatre production for video so it's quite large (26 tracks, 2 hours) at 24/48Khz.   Still missing Pantheon Surround (the DLL from Sonar 8.5 is still in the shared DXi folder, but it's not recognized by X3-64bit)

There is only one version of BREVERB 2 Cakewalk shipped with X3. I am guessing Alex thought you might have the full version. I don't do surround mixes so can't help. I don't think the surround version of Pantheon was ported to 64bit, only the stereo version was ported. DirectX plug-ins don't have bridging software and I doubt loading a plug-in in multiple wrappers would work. Aside from calling tech support, the only thing I could suggest is try one of the other 64bit reverbs Sonitus or Nomad BlueVerb.

The donationware Ambience plugin does work - no noise and automation works.

Do any of the true surround reverb VSTs actually work with Sonar X3-64bit? I tried the demo of Acon Digital's and it was an epic fail - it came up like stereo in the Surround Bridge and just made nasty noises. Voxengo's site wasn't cooperating at the time, so I didn't pursue that one any further.
