For those just reading this thread, it is old information and does not apply to X3. There should be no need to change a plug-in from an effect to a synth anymore. Instead use the drop down in the VST header to "Enable MIDI Input".

I'm so glad I found this thread.  Thanks Bob! ..and Scook for the added info, and the op for bringing it up!  I can finally stop banging my head against what I thought was me not understanding Sonar's Midi! At last(!) my footpedal is functional in Sonar!

Is there a way, though, to send these midi tracks to a bus somehow? I've had to take my effects out my normal effects bus and add those to my main guitar tracks (duplicating them for each guitar) to make this work. I've fiddled around with this now for a couple nights trying to get this on my own...  but thanks is due here anyhow, so I thought I'd sneak a question in too

Thanks again!

Have not used Guitar Rig in some time, I have used other plug-ins with "Enabled MIDI Input" in bus FX bins. MIDI tracks have no problem sending data to plug-ins on buses.

ugh, I feel stupid... I see why I thought they weren't tho... it needs to be highlighted for the midi control to work.  pardon my noobishness lol

and thanks again!
