  • How do I automate third-party VST's?

I use a lot of third-party VST's and plugins from places like Computer Music magazine. They sit in a shell called "Teleport Server" when I load them which doesn't let me use any kind of automation. Not only is this extremely obnoxious on many occasions, but actually renders a lot of other plugins (like dBlue's Tapestop) completely useless.

I've tried changing some of the settings on the individual VST's themselves, but nothing works. What do I have to do to get Sonar to see the adjustable sliders and knobs of the VST's that live inside of Teleport Server... or better yet, how do I keep something from being hosted inside of the Teleport Server altogether?

I've managed to automate Tapestop before without issue.

I'm not at my DAW at the moment but I'm pretty sure I loaded it as an FX chain in the Pro Channel.

I still have the same problem when it's in the FX bin. It's loaded in that Teleport Server thing, and I can't do any kind of automation with it. Is this because they're 32 bit plugins in a 64 bit environment?

I'm on X3 Producer btw.

The teleport server is used by bitbridge to wrap 32 bit plugins when you have the 64 bit version of Sonar installed and from what I remember you might have more luck with jbridge or just install plugins with a 64bit version.

Have you looked at the 'Edit Filter' ...............
I am looking at 32 bit plugs and can see parameters being able to be expressed by Sonar's 'Edit Filter'..........Then on some others none at all.
So it looks like it depends on the way a plug is written able Sonar to "see it" as automatable or such as ...not.

{per Help File}
Click the Edit Filter control and select the desired data type. The Edit Filter control is available in each track strip in the Track view and in the Tools HUD (see Using the Tools HUD to select tools).

I installed Jbridge, and it's neat that it has a function where I can use it from within Sonar itself, but now with Jbridge enabled, the plugins are just showing up as big white blanks. What do I do?

If you are struggling with using 32-bit plugins in Sonar x64, then you could try opening the project in Sonar x32.

It needs to be made clear, because many people don't seem to be aware, that:
  1. The 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Sonar can be installed together side by side on the same platform.
  2. Sonar projects created in Sonar x64 can be opened in Sonar x32 and vice versa. There is no difference in the project file format (although there may of course be issues with plugins).
