Hi -

I've just upgraded to Sonar Producer X3 and I'm interested in making some short sound effects with a Greek theme for a project I'm working on.  Effects could last anywhere from .5 to 5 seconds.  I'm just in the brainstorming phase right now and am looking for suggestions both for what synths might work well (I know there's a Pan Flute, will check for lyre or harp) and any other recommendations that might help capture a greek feel.

(I also have Adobe Audition CS6 if some work could be better done in that program)

Thanks for any help.

You might want to look at Dimension Pro for the sounds you are looking or TTS-1. The examples you give are not thought of as FX or an effect but rather a musical instrument sound.

You could use Z3ta to create a wind effect or rain type sounds. As John points out your examples are more sample instruments than sound effects.

Thanks for the replies.  The effects are for a game of sorts, with a greek theme, and the person I'm helping would like some custom sounds (or sound effects) for various successes, failures, dire warnings, or great victories.  I mentioned the two instruments because I thought they might work well with a greek theme - but I really am open to suggestions.

Thanks for any ideas.

I would imagine a few notes on the harp (a la the lyre) would work some.  Dimension Pro has a lot of strange sounds, but most are evolving rather than stabs, etc.  Otherwise, without knowing more there is little to add.

I just googled and found this:
http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?id=296
It isn't actually Greek, it's Turkish, but apparently it is a close relative of a similar Greek instrument.
