  • Disabling Drag-to-Multidock?

I think there was a way to disable this in X1, but I can't figure it out in X3 if possible.

In Default Screenset 5; with Tracks at the top and Console at the bottom:

I'd like to disable the function where you can drag a plug-in down to the Console area to add it to the Multidock. For example, when I open a plug-in, then drag it down to the middle of the screen, the bottom (Console area) turns blue, indicating that, if you release the click-drag, Sonar will add the plug-in to the Multi-dock. Is there a way to disable that assumption?

Thanks!

I can't recall the correct key combo but I think it is either by holding down Shift key or the CTRL key (or both) while dragging the (plug-in) window to the bottom.  Yeah, it's just the CTRL key.  Just hold that down while drag the window.

Kind regards,

I had forgotten about this.

But I'm guessing there's no way to simply disable that? It's sort of irritating. I don't ever want my plug-ins in the Multi-dock.

This bothers me too. If there's an option to disable ALL of the multi-dock actions, I'd like to know. Right now, I guess I'll play around with the tip above (control-drag, or shift, or alt, or whatever it happens to be).

I wish there was a way to permanently disable this as well. I have everything undocked and spread across my monitors using full screen mode. I then configured and locked my screen sets with the views I use and save the empty project as a starting point (not as a template). I load this project and immediately do a save as when I start on somehing new.

IMHO, I think skylight's docking system is great for single monitor setups(works nice on my laptop), but in a multi-monitor setup it makes things far more difficult for me to manage and gets in the way of my workflow. But thats just me though. :)

Duckbar has an option to hide the multidock.

Duckbar. Not exactly what I was hoping to hear, anyway.

I would not suggest Duckbar for your issue. In the case of the split TV/Console view setup, to prevent the multidock grabbing plug-ins either get use to holding the ALT key when dragging plug-ins around or undock the console view.

I confirm that it is in fact the Control Key (no other modifier or any other key will do).
