hello

i want to know how can i change the default settings of tts-1 synthesizer

i use mc7 to play my midi files (i use it only for that)
using tts-1 synthesizer.
when i open a midi file in mc7
tts-1 is automatically used as midi output

but i have a small problem:
everytime i open a midi file
i have to change the settings in tts-1 manually

polyphony limit is set to 48 per default
some of my midi files need more
so i have to set it manually to 128 (max)
in tts-1 > system

and tts-1 is using
chorus and reverb filter per default
in tts-1 > effect
i prefer to play the midis without reverb

how can i change the default tts-1 settings ??
i want 128 polyphony limit instead of 48
and reverb to be disabled per default

i have to change these settings everytime i open a new midi file manually
i havn't found a cfg or ini file to change the default tts-1 settings

hope smb can help

thx
peter

Aside from creating a track or project template containing a preconfigured TTS-1, I do not know of a way to save any of the TTS-1 settings. Some settings are not retained at all and must be set every session such as "Light Load Mode" in System Options. Of course, this would not be very convenient if you are relying on the automatic mapping MC does when opening a MIDI file.

I assume you are saving project files for each MIDI file. At least you will only need to open as a MIDI file once and the project will retain almost all of the TTS-1 setup.

thx for your reply

hmmm i guess my chances are zero that the
tts-1 devs from roland will compile a new
TTS-1.dll for me with other default settings

i have found a way to save the default settings
or at least the polyhony limit can be saved....

in tts-1 under system > option
u can save and load  a "performance file"
for tts-1
but.....

tts-1 doesn't load the file on default
everytime i open a midi file i have to load the performance file in tts-1 manually

loading the performance file takes 1 step more compared to just change the poly limit
and the effect setting is not saved in the performance file anyway

this is a known bug for TTS-1, unfortunately, and Roland has no plans to update TTS-1.  it's been this way for many years.

hmmm so asking roland for help seems to be useless then

Perhaps you can approach the issue in a different manner.  Are you aware you can run multiple instances of the TTS-1?  Each of the 16 channels can use any one of the four available audio outputs.  By dividing the 16 channels between the four outputs you effectively reduce the polyphonic load of each instance.

thx but running multiple instances of tts-1 will take much more effort
compared to do 3 clicks each time i open a midi file

One thing I have discovered in my many years of working with digital recorders.....

Sometimes, you just gotta do what you gotta do to get the job done.

yep u r right :-)

btw i asked rolands german customer support  if they are planning to release the
"sound canvas for ios" for windows

they said they dont have plans to do so atm

i guess cakewalk has an exclusive deal with roland about the tts-1
so roland cannot release a new sound canvas tool for windows

the tts-1 is basically a sound canvas (somewhere between a SC-55 and a ED SC-8820)
