  • How do I separate MIDI channels to their own tracks?

I have successfully recorded a MIDI file from my old MC50mkII sequencer to MC7.  The song uses four different MIDI channels, but of course they're all recorded to one track on MC.   Now I need to separate those channels so that drums, bass, piano and strings are each on their own tracks.  How do I do that?  I haven't found an answer searching the menus in MC and going through the help docs.

Two ideas come to mind.
Save the file as MIDI format 1, then open the MIDI file
Create 4 MIDI tracks containing the data and use the MIDI Event Filter MFX to filter by channel.

Perfect!  Though I should mention that saving to MIDI format 0 is the one I had to use. :)

Strangely, the event filter doesn't provide any options for MIDI channels.  Everything else, yes, but not channels.

Channel is in the dialog displayed when the "Non-special events" button is clicked on the Event Filter MFX
