Sheesh.

I can see it now:

USB-C
USB-C+
USB-C++
USB-C#

Fragmentation rules. Resistance is futile.

I had one of the exploding Note 7s. Well, two of them. They took the second one back, as well. That was USB-C. It was nice not having to think about which side was up. They downgraded me to a 7 Edge, with its too-abrupt edge and old USB connector.

Craig is a ray of optimism in a frustrating world of proprietary gotchas. If we ever really do settle on a truly universal connection standard, it'll be thanks to Android. Left to their own devices, Apple would have happily leveraged planned obsolescence to coerce us into endless annual buying cycles at ever-ratcheting prices.

PS: I finally convinced my wife to dump her iMac 27" and replace it with a Jim Roseberry Windows PC! She's also replacing her iPhone 7 with a Samsung.

What part of universal do tech companies not understand?
