People Get Ready

I did this in Adobe Audition trying to imitate how I would have done it live with a stereo looper and my synth pickup attached to my acoustic guitar (which I used to do) right down to leaving some time to reach down to tap the button on my synth controller in order to go to the next patch and so on. Just using the pickup in the guitar as well. I wanted to do this in such a way that I could duplicate it live . . . well, if anyone ever comes out with an affordable guitar synth that doesn't glitch. If I wanted to bother to go back and figure out what I played during the solos I could probably get away with faking a video of me playing it live and no one would know. It might not sound as good this way, but I'm all about live performance, at least in feel if not in fact.

My solos are mostly improvised, but with many takes. I'm no Kenny after all.

This is a real good treatment of the original song.  I really like the intro to this song and the fact that you carried it through for so long.  The staggered intro of each of the sounds (instruments) throughout was well done.  I was a bit startled by the cut-off of the intro and the introduction of the guitar but it works.

Nice one Bill!

Thanks Fred. Your comments are always helpful and much appreciated.

I should have pointed out for the young folks that this is not something I wrote. It's an old Curtis Mayfield song. Most people are probably more familiar with the Jeff Beck - Rod Stewart version though.

I didn't try to sound like either. I just kind of did my own thing with it.

You might not have written the song, but I'm assuming all the embellishments in the song are yours? Regardless, I really liked this one. I wasn't quite as taken with the intro as I was with the guitar part. Maybe just some strings in the background is all you'd need.

I really like this. Very uplifting. Nice choice of tune.  The intro especially makes sense in a live looping context. The recording is pristine.  Altogether very nice. Thanks for sharing!

That was cool - I enjoyed that.  The acoustic guitar sounds excellent - very nice playing there.

Lovely acoustic rendition of a great tune. Didn't like that intro at all, sorry.

That first couple of minutes was just amazing! That's some very creative stuff and wonderfully played. Normally synths make me want to upchuck, and I was afraid this was going to be some silly electronica junk in search of a melody, but that was like a looped symphony. Loved that guitar bit at the end too. What was that final chord sequence?
