  • Latest update (2018-11): where was it downloaded temporarily?

For this update I didn't see anything (cake installer) go by in the following folders:

c:users/name../AppData/Roaming/Bandlab-assistant/Downloads

All I have there is the "assistant.exe" (11/30/2018) with the Bandlab icon

I've kept all the previous updates and they all have the cakewalk icon

I'm just curious 'cause I hate this downloading stuff anywhere temporarily to install something....even if it's free.....

BA settings show the download path. The path may be opened by clicking on the ellipses to the right of the path. Click the gear in the upper left of the BA UI to open settings.

Starting with 2018-11 there are two update files. Which one is downloaded and installed depends on the currently installed CbB version.

When updating from 2018-09 (IOW the latest production release), BA downloads a small update only installer called Cakewalk_by_BandLab_Update_Setup_24.11.0.31.exe. Unlike the full installer, the update installer does not pause for user input so one has to be quick to grab a copy of it.

If updating from any version other than the latest production release, BA downloads and installs a full installer like it did for all the previous updates. The full installer for 2018-11 is called Cakewalk_by_BandLab_Setup_24.11.0.31.exe.

Thanks gents, I much appreciate this thread. I updated to the latest with both BandLab 4.0 and CbB. I skipped the last update due to a few crash reports - and thanks this thread I was able to finally snag the full executable for archive.

I have to say - this latest full download update ( for me )was the most efficient and glitch free update yet of both BA and CbB.

Well that really stinks....Wish I had seen this. See I back up the exe's but only keep the last one. So I delete the previous ones.
This means I now only have a backup of the updater, not the full installer--Is that correct Scook?
Wait I found one dated 10/15/2018 so that should be the last full installer? what do you think? It is 550,993 mb

The full CbB 2018-09 installer is ~550MB

Thanks Scook, that means I still have it. I have renamed the folder to Last Full install in my CWbyBL external storage folder

Scook,

1) thank you
2) I know the files are in the cla roamong blabla folder so I had a 2nd
explorer window opened
3) I saw the installer with 30/11/18 date and then I had the "do you want
to continue blabla"

This when I normally grab the file. I still only had rhe installer available, even
if the downloading took about 1-2 minutes.....expected time in my case.

4) So i just let it and the first thing it asked was my language preference....that's
what Inormally see.

Before making the selection I re-chechecked a bunch of folders and still didn't
see the "cakewalk_xxx.." .exe

Ph well...it's not a biggy....(-:
