Hi;

Is there any way to clear the audio or MIDI data from a channel without deleting the whole channel?  I want to delete the audio or MIDI data but preserve the settings on the channel strip.  I already know I can freeze the audio but I don't want to do it that way.

Thanks
Johnbee

Select the track, then choose Tracks > Wipe Track(s). This deletes data while leaving properties intact. However, note that this data does not go to the clipboard.

Yup - wipe is destructive, but other than that it should accomplish what you stated you were looking to do in your original post.

I usually select the track and then right click in the Clips Pane at the associated track and choose the desired option (like delete in this case).  You can also select the desired tracks to clean and then simple hit the delete key on the PC keyboard (just don't hit it too hard).  I do not know where the clip/data goes though.

Kind regards,

Thank you so much for your answers.  I guess I should also ask is it possible to convert a MIDI track to an audio.  What I really want to do is convert the MIDI tracks in my projects to audio but be able to maintain control of the parameters (ie change EQ or effects settings, pan etc) if I desire.  On previous DAWs I've used to freeze a track meant making the track audio but permanently locking all of those parameters into the audio as well.

THANKS AND MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Select the instrument track (or tracks, if the instrument has both MIDI and audio tracks in a folder), then in the timeline select the range you want the audio track to span. Next, choose Tracks > Bounce to Track(s). This will convert the instrument sound to an audio track without removing the instrument track. You can either delete the instrument tracks, or mute them if you think you might want to play around with them more in the future.

In Sonar you can use freeze and still access FX. Just set the freeze options not to include FX. This will allow full control of EQ and any FX you wish to use.

To access the freeze options right click on the snowflake icon in the synth rack.

Craig and John-Thank you so much!  Very useful info.  I will try both ways.
