Another thing that makes me paranoid is companies outright snooping around in my crud or sharing it around. I'm a law abiding individual and have nothing to hide but that just skeeves me the heck out.

I have a website hosted by Hostgator. A few years ago I was looking in my site directories via an FTP client and happened to notice a folder I didn't recall uploading. Inside was a bunch of HTML files which, when opened, turned out to be the layout and copy of what appeared to be a Russian porn site specializing in incest. It was basically everything except the photos themselves. I immediately called Hostgator and asked them what in the hell they were doing there. They just denied all knowledge and said they had no idea. Ever since then I've been vividly aware that someone could be creeping around your private online space at any time.

Well that's creepy and unnerving. I can't even fathom why someone would do that? Trying to piggyback their site on your account? Hostgator using your account as a storage dump? Weird... either way I'm gonna keep that in mind when I finally pick a host for my crud.

I agree about the theft of a song but people store all sorts of things. If clouds were simply just a place for music storage it wouldn't be a big enough business to bother. MS has a cloud I'm sure Apple does as well. I doubt people use them for song storage.

Heck in this thread the notion of backup is mentioned. Backup of what? If its whole sale backup than all kinds useful data will be in clouds.  Its just a matter of if a hacker wants it.

Yeah, I gotta wonder about storing something like a system image online. If someone snags it and does a bare metal install on another system or something I'd imagine if there was any user history/stored passwords/whatever they'd just be able to do whatever nefarious mayhem they want. This is why I like the whole running an OS from a USB key or disc for any sensitive activities. Even then I've been led to believe these things can be swiped from modems/routers. Meh... best to just operate under the assumption everything you do anywhere at anytime can be watched, heard, accessed, etc unless you are in a locked room with the lights out under a blanket not making any noise. lulz... PROGRESS!

Don't worry they have thermal cameras for that.

No one wants to see what's going on underneath that blanket.

In case anyone's wondering when the Windows version of Gobbler 2.0 will be available, I found this on their Facebook page from October 13 in reply to someone who asked them:

"We are working on it! Hopefully in the next 6-8 weeks. We are in the process of looking for a developer to build it for us."

This is a month ago. Not in the process of building it. But looking for a developer to build it. Have they even found a developer yet? Who knows.

Might not be the correct place for this but I thought it would be interesting for those of us who have used Gobbler and simply aren't happy with what's been going on rather than starting a new thread where some of us who use it might have missed it.

Today I was introduced to a possible alternative to Gobber called wavestack.com. It seems to be a hybrid of Gobbler and Soundcloud with the way it's designed. After reading a bit and toying with it and their app, it's looking pretty promising even for being just in beta. You can sign up on there and they are having a bit of a promotion on Reddit for people who beta test it saying they will get "special treatment and freebies". Might be worth some of you guys looking into as well. If it does turn out to be a good product, might be worth Cakewalk looking into options if Gobbler can't get their stuff together.

I'm lonely here, but I like gobbler and expect to remain a customer.

I cannot use OR get rid of Gobbler 1, it keeps wanting to access a path to a gobbler.msi that does not appear to be on my system. QUITE a rickety piece of software as well, from the looks of the Gobbler web site. I am NOT a happy camper.
